Hello all,
Before I provide a short update about what A6 will look like moving forward, I wanted to thank everyone for their support over the past two years.
A6 has nearly 800 subscribers, and the open rate has remained high. It is humbling that this project has so many loyal readers who find it a valuable addition to your inboxes.
So, THANK YOU!
Moving forward, A6 is going to focus on one specific topic rather than a general wrap of global events.
Long-time readers will recognize this format from my occasional “In-depth” issues.
I will still focus on the ideal of “smaller updates that help us understand what is happening in the world,” but every issue will only include one story.
For people who like the broad news wraps, I would highly suggest , and . Hong Kong readers should look into .
There is a mental grind to wrapping 5-6 news updates per week, particularly because the stories are often depressing. Frankly, I burned out about a month ago.
A6 is a valuable project, but it doesn’t make much money, so it became difficult to justify the mental energy required to create a readable, accurate, newsletter.
I was considering a pivot (or closing the project altogether) when I wrote last week’s issue about the Nobel Prizes. I had a blast writing that issue, I learned a lot, and found it an enriching experience.
I hope to continue the inspiration from that article with future “In-depth” issues of A6.
The topics will likely remain pegged to geopolitical events, and I will continue avoiding American domestic issues. It will also include the whims of my curiosity.
I hope readers find the new A6 valuable and worthy of your time. Feel free to reply to this issue if there is a particular topic you would want me to focus on.
A6 will remain free, with the same pay-what-you-want business model. Thanks to everyone who has helped keep this project moving forward with your generous donations.
I am excited about the future of A6.
Best,
Kevin

Hey Kevin,
From one author to another, I hear you.
The dual challenges of writing 'inviting' copy and doing the research is hard work. When dealing with depressing topics, it can be draining.
Fortunately, there is real gratification that comes from this work. In my case, it involves offering meaningful insights related to post-COVID health.
I hope that you can keep up your good writing. You are appreciated.
I have learned a lot through your newsletter, Kevin. Thank you!
